Ink Review #1250: Monteverde Monteverde Green

Monteverde Monteverde Green has been on my list to try for a while. I’m trying to finish reviewing all of the Monteverde inks so it’s Monteverde Green’s turn today. You can find this ink at Pen Chalet (aff. link) or Vanness Pens.

The color:

Monteverde Green is a dark forest green.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has a little bit of shading and some red sheen.

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shading, low red sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was some feathering in most nib sizes but no bleeding.

I used a TWSBI Eco Transparent Green with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a slightly wet flow.

Overall, this is a lovely green ink. I think I will reach for it more in the winter due to the dark cool tone, but it’s worth a try, especially at the current low price.

Ink Review #1249: Diamine Ultra Green

Diamine Ultra Green seems to be one of the less-popular Diamine green inks, but I still wanted to give it a try. I purchased my bottle of ink from Cult Pens, but you can find this ink at most retailers including Pen Chalet (aff. link).

The color:

Ultra Green is a bright summery green.

Water resistance: Medium

Feathering: Low

Show through: Medium

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was some feathering and a few dots of bleeding.

I used a Sailor Pro Gear Sparkling Shamrock with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is another well-behaved green from Diamine. I enjoyed this ink in the Sailor Pro Gear broad nib.

Monteverde Midnight Black is from Monteverde’s Core collection. I purchased my bottle of ink from Pen Chalet (aff. link).

The color:

Midnight Black is a classic medium black.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has a little bit of shading and a tiny bit of bronze sheen.

I used a Kaweco Al-sport Black with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a slightly wet flow.

Overall, I really like this ink, especially in the Kaweco medium nib. I ended up buying a full bottle just because I like it so much.

Mandarin Orange is a dark red orange.

Overall, it’s much darker than I expected, and has a lot less shading than I was hoping for. It’s well behaved, but not one of my favorite oranges.

Ink Review #1246: Robert Oster Green Black

Robert Oster Green Black aka Grun-schwarz is a dark wintery green. You can find this ink for sale at most retailers including Pen Chalet (aff. link) and Vanness Pens.

Green Black is just that, in-between green and black.

I used a Franklin-Christoph 46 Blue Diamondcast with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, it’s a well-behaved dark green. This ink would be great for an office appropriate green or for the dark winter months.

Ink Review #1245: Straits Pen Storm Warning

Storm Warning is a dark but unsaturated olive green.

I used a Pilot Vanishing Point Tropical Turquoise with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, I found this to be an interesting ink, mainly because the color is rather unusual. If you missed out on this ink, Lennon Tool Bar Wenshaan Pouchong Tea is the closest ink I know of.

Ink Review #1244: Penlux Mo Plum

A few months ago I tried my first Penlux ink and I knew I needed to get some more to try, starting with Penlux Mo Plum (aff. link). I purchased my bottle of ink from Pen Chalet. Penlux inks come in square 50ml glass bottles and are made by Sailor.

The color:

Plum is a dark red violet.

I used an Pelikan M805 Stresemann with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a wet flow.

Overall, I plan on using this ink thought the fall and winter seasons. I love the color and the wet flow, and it even has a little bit of shading.

Evergreen is a medium bright green.

Overall, this is a great summer green, but it might work well as a brighter Christmas green as well. It’s well-behaved, a pretty color and worth a try!
