Ink Review #454: Colorverse 20 Black Hole
/Today’s ink is Colorverse #20 Black Hole from Colorverse Season 2 Astrophysics. This ink comes in a boxed set with a 65ml and 15ml bottles of the same ink. Thanks to Pen Chalet for sending a sample over for review.
Swabs:
In large swabs there is some black sheen. The large swabs took a long time to dry, you can see below that even after three days the ink drops are still wet.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 50 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: no shading, high sheen, and no shimmer. There is a lot of sheen, but similar to other inks with a lot of sheen it can be smeared easily.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was just a little bit of feathering, and some bleeding in the flex nib.
Comparison Swabs:
Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Colorverse 1 Sunspot, Colorverse 20 Black Hole, and Sailor Jentle Black. Sunspot is more of a solid black, Black Hole has a bit of a purple tinge. Click here to see the Colorverse inks together.
Diamine Onyx Black, Pilot Iroshizuku Take-sumi, and Pelikan Edelstein Onyx. Click here to see the black inks together.
Longer writing:
Overall, it’s very sheeny, but I had a few issues with nib creep and smearing. It also had a long dry time at 50 seconds.
