Today we are looking at Colorverse #7 Hubble Zoom from Spaceward Season 1. Thanks to Pen Chalet for sending a sample over for review.

The color:

Hubble Zoom is a medium warm brown. It's not quite a red-brown, but has more red than your average brown.

Swabs:

In large swabs, when pooled, the ink looks black. After two days the ink is still not dry.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 70 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: none

Other properties: low shadingno sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as a bit of bleeding, so it's not an ink I would recommend for cheap paper.

Comparison Swabs:

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Colorverse Space Laika, Colorverse Hubble Zoom, and Robert Oster Chocolate. Hubble Zoom is more red than Space Laika, but not as red as Chocolate. Click here to see the Colorverse inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a broad Pilot Vanishing Point Copper on Tomoe River paper. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, I don't like this ink. The dry time was really long at 70 seconds, and I'm just not crazy about the color.
