Ink Review #638: Delta Yellow

Today’s yellow ink is Delta Yellow. As soon as I swatched this ink I knew there was a 99% chance that this ink was too light for me to use in writing. I purchased my sample of ink from Anderson Pens.

The color:

Yellow is a classic bright yellow.

In large swabs there is a little bit of shading, but no sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Low

Bleeding: None

Other properties: no shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was a bit of bleeding in the flex nib and feathering in all nib sizes.

Comparison Swabs:

Delta Yellow is close to Toucan Primrose. click here to see the yellow inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Pilot Vanishing Point Crossed Lines with a medium nib on Tomoe River paper. The ink had a slightly dry flow.

Overall, this ink is pretty well behaved besides being slightly dry, but it’s way too light to comfortably read. The only thing I would ever use this ink for is highlighting. I would not recommend it.
