Ink Review #2845: Diamine 160th Anniversary Canalside
/Today’s ink is Diamine Canalside from the 160th Anniversary collection. You can find this ink for sale at some retailers including Vanness Pens.
The color:
Canalside is a deep green with a little bit of shading and sheen.
*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.
Swabs:
In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has some shading and sheen.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm, as well as on cheap copy paper.
*For my writing samples I use:
Vintage Mabie Todd Swan (flex nib)
Taroko Enigma notebooks (68gsm TR)
Dry time: 30 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: low shading, low red sheen, and no shimmer.
On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering and bleeding in all nib sizes.
Comparison Swabs:
Canalside is closest to Tools to Live By Green. Click here to see the green inks together.
Longer Writing:
I used a Pilot Custom 74 in Forest with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.
Overall, I think this is a lovely ink. It’s a nice color, behaves well, and has some shading and sheen. It’s worth a try!
