Ink Review #2677: Diamine Lullaby

It’s Day 13 of the Diamine Inkvent 2024 Calendar! You can still find the Inkvent Calendar for sale at Cult Pens, along with many others. Thanks to Diamine for sending the Inkvent Calendar over for review!

The color:

Lullaby is a pale orchid purple.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper it has some nice shading.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

*For my writing samples I use:

• EF Pilot Vanishing Point

• F, M, B Pilot Ishime

• Vintage Mabie Todd Swan (flex nib)

• Rhodia Goalbook

• Taroko Enigma notebooks (68gsm TR)

• Leuchtturm A5

• Pen & Gear Paper from Walmart

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had feathering in all nib sizes and some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Lullaby is lighter than Sailor Ink Studio 235. Click here to see the purple inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a TWSBI Eco Orchid with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink has a slightly dry flow.

Overall, I like the color, but it can be too light and hard to read in smaller nib sizes. It’s also a little drier than I prefer, so it’s generally well-behaved, but I don’t need a full bottle of this one.
