Let’s tackle one more red ink before moving onto some new inks, Diamine Poppy Red. I purchased my bottle of ink from Cult Pens.

The color:

Poppy Red is a medium red bright red.

Swabs:

In large swabs there is some pretty shading and just the tiniest hint of gold sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-it only bled on Leuchtturm paper and in the flex nib on Rhodia.

Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was just a little bit of feathering and bleeding.

Diamine Poppy Red is pretty close to Direct Sun. Click here to see the Diamine inks together.

Overall, it’s a nice bright red, but has a little bit of bleeding. It dries pretty quickly and is at a really affordable price.
