Ink Review #1959: IWI Autumnal Equinox
/IWI Autumnal Equinox is from the Colors of Nature collection. This ink is available in 30ml bottles. You can find this ink for sale at Vanness Pens.
*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.
Swabs:
In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has a much cooler tone.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
*For my writing samples I use:
Vintage Mabie Todd Swan (flex nib)
Taroko Enigma notebooks (68gsm TR)
Dry time: 5 seconds
Water resistance: Medium
Feathering: Low
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering and a few dots of bleeding.
Comparison Swabs:
Autumnal Equinox is a little warmer than these other brown inks. Click here to see the brown inks together.
Longer writing:
I used an Opus 88 Koloro with a medium nib on an Odyssey notebook. The ink had an average flow.
Overall, this ink is a meh for me-it dries quickly but also feathers a bit. I’m not wowed by it.
