Ink Review #2695: KWZ Green Gold
/Let’s take a look at KWZ Green Gold today. My sample came from Vanness Pens, but you can find it at most retailers.
*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.
Swabs:
In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink is much darker than it is on the Col-o-ring swab.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm, as well as on cheap copy paper.
*For my writing samples I use:
Vintage Mabie Todd Swan (flex nib)
Taroko Enigma notebooks (68gsm TR)
Dry time: 40 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: medium shading, low black sheen, and no shimmer.
On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering and bleeding in the larger nib sizes.
Comparison Swabs:
Green Gold is pretty close to PenBBS 435 Snow Pine. Click here to see the green inks together.
Longer Writing:
I used a Pelikan M400 White Tortoise with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink has an average flow. I love this pen/ink combo.
Overall, I really like this ink. It’s an interesting color, has a good average flow and even has some shading and a little bit of sheen.
