Ink Review #753: Monteverde Passion Burgundy

Monteverde Passion Burgundy is from the Emotions collection. I think Passion Burgundy is a great name for this ink, better than Joy Sepia’s name. Thanks to Monteverde for sending it over for review.

The color:

Passion is a dark burgundy, which can look almost pink in some instances.

Swabs:

In large swabs the ink looks more matte, with less pink, and turns black when super concentrated.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there was a little bit of bleeding in the flex nib.

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was a bit of bleeding and feathering in the larger nib sizes.

Comparison Swabs:

Passion is similar to Kobe Kounan Maroon and Robert Oster Burgundy. Click here to see the Monteverde inks together, and click here to see the red inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Kaweco Al-sport Red with a medium nib on Tomoe River paper. The ink had a wet flow.

Overall, it’s a nice burgundy red, and well behaved. It has a nice wet flow and is pretty affordable too!
