Ink Review #377: Nemosine Pleiades Blue/Black
/It's blue black week! Today's blue black ink is Nemosine Pleiades Blue/Black. I was given a sample of this ink by a friend from the Seattle-ish Pen Posse, but you can find it for sale at Goulet Pens. I love that this ink comes in 35ml bottles, enough to play with but not so large that you feel like you're stuck with the ink forever.
Swabs:
In large swabs there is some beautiful shading and even a little bit of coppery sheen.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 30 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: high shading, low sheen, and no shimmer.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering and just a little bit of bleeding.
Comparison Swabs:
Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Robert Oster Thunderstorm, Nemosine Pleiades Blue/Black, and Bungubox 4B. Click here to see the Nemosine inks together.
KWZ Warsaw Dreaming, Robert Oster Blue Black, and Diamine Blue/Black. Click here to see the blue black inks together. Pleiades B/B almost feels like a lighter version of RO Blue Black, but with a bit less purple.
Longer Writing:
Overall, this ink looks different depending on the nib size you use. In a medium nib it shows some really great shading, and even some sheen in a flex nib. The 35ml bottles are pretty affordable, and well behaved. It is a bit on the purple side of blue black, but I think that's part of why I like it.
