Ink Review #479: Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin

We are powering through some orange inks today-our next ink is Pelikan Edelstein Mandarin. This ink is part of Pelikan’s standard lineup, and is available in 50ml bottles.

The color:

Mandarin is a bright, medium orange.

The ink is a great orange for summer time.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shadingno sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was just a little bit of feathering, and some bleeding the flex nib.

Longer writing:

I used a broad Pilot Vanishing Point Twillight on an ivory Hippo Noto Notebook. The ink had a dry flow.

Overall, this ink is a really great color, but it’s a bit too dry for me.
