Ink Review #477: Pen Saijiki Shukei

We are going to power through some orange inks today, our first ink is Pen Saijiki Shukei. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens.

The color:

Shukei is a medium orange. Sometimes it looks true orange, and sometimes it leans a bit coral.

In large swabs the ink looks more coral.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shadingno sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was just a little bit of feathering, and some bleeding the flex nib.

Longer writing:

I used a medium Pelikan M400 White Tortoise on an ivory Hippo Noto Notebook. The ink had a wetter flow.

Overall, I like the color of this ink, it’s a nice spring-summer orange. It has a nice wet flow and behaves well, I just wish it had a bit more shading.
