PenBBS 175 Stendhal is from Season 13 and comes in 60ml bottles. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens. This ink was based on Stendhal, aka Marie-Henri Beyle, a 19th-century French writer.

The color:

Stendhal is a deep wine red.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink looks less saturated than it does on the previous swab.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was a lot feathering and bleeding in all nib sizes.

Stendhal is closest to Ferris Wheel Press Candy Marsala. Click here to see the PenBBS inks together, and click here to see the red inks together.

I used a Lamy Studio Terracotta with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, it’s a lovely ink, great for the fall and winter seasons.
