/I’ve had some requests lately to review the Platinum Classic inks, so this week we will take a look at the full collection. We are going to start with Platinum Classic Sepia Black. The ink is available in 60ml bottles. Thanks to Pen Chalet for sending a sample over for review!
Swabs:
In large swabs the ink shows a lot of shading.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 50 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: high shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was just a little bit of feathering, and some bleeding the flex nib.

Longer writing:
Overall, since this ink has a dry flow, it performs best in pens with a wetter flow. I didn’t have any issues with clogging or skipping, so even though it’s dry it doesn’t have any other flow issues. I didn’t notice much color change with this ink as I did with some of the other Platinum Classic inks. I was expecting a lot more water resistance than I got, this one had very low water resistance.
