/It’s brown ink week! I love using neutral inks in November! Today’s brown ink is Robert Oster Aussie Brown.
The color:
Aussie Brown is a medium warm brown.
Swabs:
Ink large swabs the ink looks cooler-toned than it does in writing.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 30 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering in every nib size, and some bleeding in the flex and broad nibs.
Comparison Swabs:
Similar inks:
Montblanc Toffee Brown has a little bit more red in it than Aussie Brown does. Click here to see the Robert Oster inks together.
Longer writing:
I used a medium Lamy Studio Terracotta on Tomoe River 68gsm. The ink had an average flow.
Overall, it’s another nice ink from Robert Oster. There’s some nice shading and it’s pretty well behaved.
