Since Christmas is coming, I'm hooked on reds and greens right now. Today's green is Robert Oster Spearmint. This ink sample was provided to me by Vanness Pens

The color...

Spearmint is a medium green with shading and sheen.

The ink drops show off the nice dark pink/red sheen.

Dry time: 22 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-some bleed through on Tomoe River paper with the flex nib.

Other properties: Medium shading, medium pink sheen.

On Sustainable Earth 20lb copy paper, there was just a tiny bit of feathering and bleeding in the flex nib.

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Robert Oster River of Fire, Robert Oster Spearmint, and Robert Oster Peppermint. Click here to see the Robert Oster inks together. Spearmint and Peppermint are very close-I think Peppermint is just a tiny bit lighter and a tiny bit more blue.

Longer writing:

I used a broad Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl on Tomoe River paper. I didn't have any flow issues-the ink is a little bit on the wet side.

Overall, I think the color is super close to Robert Oster Peppermint, close enough that you don't need both, and if I had to pick one I think I prefer Peppermint. However, Spearmint dried in 22 seconds while Peppermint dried in 40 seconds. I like them both. Spearmint is really well behaved, and has some nice shading and sheen.
