Robert Oster Sydney Lavender debuted at the Sydney Pen Show this year. I was worried I would miss out on a bottle, but Pen Chalet had some in stock! This ink has a broad range of colors in it, from blue to purple, and even some grey in there too.

The color:

Sydney Lavender is a dark purple with a very heavy blue undertone.

In large swabs there is some beautiful shading, you can see some streaks of the blue undertone.

Comparison Swabs:

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Robert Oster Barossa Grape, Robert Oster Sydney Lavender, and Robert Oster Purple Jazz. Click here to see the Robert Oster inks together. Purple Jazz looks just a bit darker, but has a similar tone to Sydney Lavender.

Pen Saijiki Jakujoya, Diamine Lilac Night, and Sailor Jentle Ultra Marine. Click here to see the purple inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a broad Pilot Vanishing Point Twilight on an ivory Hippo Noto Notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, I really like this ink. It is close to RO Purple Jazz, so you probably don’t need both. I think I actually like this one a bit more than Purple Jazz.
