Ink Review #363: Sailor Jentle Blue
/Let's take a look at another Sailor Jentle ink today, Blue, from the Sailor Jentle Classic line. This ink comes in the short round 50ml bottles. Thanks to Pen Chalet for providing a sample for review.
Swabs:
In large swabs there is some gorgeous coppery-red sheen.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 30 seconds
Water resistance: Medium-some of the ink washed away, but you would probably still be able to read what it said.
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: medium shading, high sheen, and no shimmer. You can see the sheen on Tomoe River paper, Leuchtturm, and in some nib sizes on Rhodia.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was a little bit of feathering, and a tiny bit of bleeding, mostly in the flex nib.
Comparison Swabs:
Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Diamine Tudor Blue, Sailor Jentle Blue, and Sailor Sei-boku. Click here to see the Sailor inks together. Tudor Blue is brighter than SJ Blue, and has a bit more purple in it.
Akkerman Shocking Blue, Monteverde Sapphire, and KWZ Azure #3. Click here to see the blue inks together.
Overall, I really like this ink. The flow is great, it's a nice basic blue, what I would call office appropriate, and it's got some sheen and shading if you use it on the right paper. It's going on my full bottle wish list.
