Ink Review #1748: Van Dieman's Tassie Salmon
/Van Dieman’s Tassie Salmon is from Van Dieman’s Tassie/Seasons collection. You can find this ink for sale at Vanness Pens.
*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.
Swabs:
In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink looks darker and more matte.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
*For my writing samples I use:
Vintage Mabie Todd Swan (flex nib)
Taroko Enigma notebooks (68gsm TR)
Dry time: 20 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: Low
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On 20 lb copy paper there is some feathering in the larger nib sizes but no bleeding.
Comparison Swabs:
Tassie Salmon is closest to Birmingham Salmon hors d’oeuvre. Click here to see the orange inks together.
Longer writing:
I used a Kaweco Sport Coral with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a dry flow.
Overall, this is a nice spring orange, but it can be too light in the smaller nib sizes. I prefer it in wet broad nibs.
