Ink Review #2152: KWZ IG Violet 2
/Let’s take a look at KWZ IG Violet 2. This ink is from KWZ’s Iron Gall collection. You can find this ink for sale at Vanness Pens.
*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.
Swabs:
In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has some shading.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
*For my writing samples I use:
Vintage Mabie Todd Swan (flex nib)
Taroko Enigma notebooks (68gsm TR)
Dry time: 50 seconds
Water resistance: Medium
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On 20 lb copy paper the ink had just a little bit of feathering and some bleeding.
Comparison Swabs:
IG Violet 2 is similar to Robert Oster Purple Rock. Click here to see the purple inks together.
Longer Writing:
I used a Kaweco Al-sport Violet with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.
Overall, this is a nice ink but not amazing. I expected it to be more water resistant because it’s an iron gall, but it only had medium water resistance. I also wanted a bit more shading than I got.
