Ink Review #2403: Pennonia Meseszep Fairy Tale

Pennonia Meseszep Fairy Tale is from the standard collection. You can find this ink for sale at most retailers including Vanness Pens.

The color:

Meseszep is a lime green.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has some shading.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

*For my writing samples I use:

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering and bleeding in the larger nib sizes.

Comparison Swabs:

Longer Writing:

I used a Kaweco Al-sport Paladin with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink has an average flow.

Overall, this is a good basic green with just a little bit of shading.

Colorverse Korea Inks Part 2

Let’s take a look at five of the Colorverse Korea Special Inks today. You can find these inks for sale at Vanness Pens. Thanks to Luxury Brands for sending these inks over for review!

Swabs:

Left to right: Turtle Ship, Danoje Festival, Dokdo, Eung Bridge and Han Bit.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry Time: 30-60 seconds

Water Resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: All had low shading. Han Bit had blue shimmer.

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size and some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Turtle Ship is a little lighter than PenBBS Snow Night.

Danoje Festival is a little darker than PenBBS Spring Lake.

Dokdo is a little more blue than Pennonia Poison Green.

Eung Bridge has less purple than Troublemaker Milky Ocean.

Han Bit is lighter than these other blue shimmer inks.

Longer Writing:

All of the inks had average flows. I used a Taroko Enigma notebook.

Overall, these are interesting inks. I think Dokdo is my favorite out of the five simply because teal is my favorite color. Danoje festival and Han Bit are too light for me, they are hard to read back.

Luxury Red is a bright cherry red.

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has a little bit of gold sheen.

Overall, I really love this ink. It’s a new favorite red ink-it flows nicely and is the perfect red color.

Song of Scarlet is a deep red with some green sheen and blue shimmer.

Song of Scarlet is pretty close to Diamine All the Best. Click here to see the red inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Pilot Custom 74 Merlot with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink has an average flow.

Overall, this ink is well behaved and it’s a nice color, but it’s pretty close to Diamine All the Best, which I already have a bottle of, and you probably don’t need both. The only difference is All the Best has purple shimmer instead of Song of Scarlet’s blue shimmer.

Smells Like Coffee is a medium brown.

Longer Writing:

I used a Pelikan M800 Renaissance Brown with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink has an average flow.

Overall, this is the first scented ink I’ve tried that didn’t feather and bleed like crazy, so that’s a plus, but it is super stinky and gave me a headache when I used it for half an hour straight. It also has a long dry time.

Faith is a turquoise blue with shimmer.

Overall, I really enjoyed this ink. It’s a gorgeous blue with plenty of shimmer and I didn’t have any clogging problems.

Hahoe Mask is similar to Sailor Ink Studio 573.

Sorae Fog is similar to Tono and Lims Strawberry Ice.

King’s Road isn’t super close to any of these other green inks.

Green Tea is similar to Lamy Charge Green.

Longer Writing:

All of the inks had average flows. I used a Taroko Enigma notebook.

Overall, these are interesting inks. I think Tangerine is my favorite out of the five. King’s Road and Green Tea are too light for me, they are hard to read back.

Overall, this ink is well behaved but it leans a bit too pink for me. I prefer a more true red.
