Ink Review #399: Diamine Flowers Carnation

Diamine Carnation is part of the Diamine Flowers Set, Cult Pens sells the bottles individually. The ink comes in 30ml bottles.

The color:

Carnation is a pretty bubblegum pink.

In large swabs there is just a little bit of shading.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: very low shadingno sheen, and no shimmer

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering and just a little bit of bleeding, mainly in the flex nib.

Comparison Swabs:

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Robert Oster Pinky, Diamine Carnation, and R&K Sketch Vroni. Carnation is much brighter than Pinky, which is less saturated. Click here to see the Diamine inks together. 

I used a broad Twsbi Eco Pink on Tomoe River paper. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, I like the color and how bright it is, but it doesn't have much shading. It's well behaved, and has a nice flow.
