Continuing with the Diamine 2017 Shimmertic collection, today's ink is Diamine Firefly. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens.

The color:

Firefly is a bright vibrant orange with gold shimmer.

The ink drops are pretty much all gold shimmer. Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly paper first, Rhodia, Tomoe River and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there is some bleeding in the flex nib.

Other properties: Low shading, no sheen, gold shimmer.

On 20 pound copy paper there was a little bit of bleeding and some feathering.

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Diamine Inferno Orange, Diamine Firefly, and Diamine Caramel Sparkle. Click here to see the Diamine inks together (the Shimmertastics are at the bottom of the page).

Longer writing:

I used a Pelikan M400 White Tortoise with a vintage 400N nib on Tomoe River, then switched to a medium Pelikan M605 White Transparent. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, the ink behaves pretty well, but I'm just not crazy about the color. It's just not for me. If you love the color, give it a shot because it is pretty well behaved and has some nice gold shimmer.
