Ink Review #163: Diamine Frosted Orchid

DFrostedOrchid-2.jpg

Today's ink is another from the Diamine Shimmertastic 2017 collection-Frosted Orchid. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens

The color:

Frosted Orchid is a medium purple with silver sheen.

I love that they paired the ink with silver shimmer-I don't think it would have looked nearly as good if they had used gold shimmer.

Dry time: 22 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None-there was some bleeding in the large Tomoe River swab, but none in any of the writing.

Other properties: Medium shading, no sheen, and silver shimmer.

On 20 pound copy paper the ink performed perfectly-no problems.

Longer writing:

I used a Sailor Pro Gear Slim Blueberry, medium nib, on Tomoe River paper. The ink is a little wet, but I didn't have any flow issues.

One thing I have noticed is that the longer you write the less shimmer you get unless you rotate your pen every few lines or every paragraph.

Overall, the ink is really well behaved and it's really beautiful. I would probably use it the most in the spring.
