J Herbin Blues
/Today let’s take a look at four blue inks from the J Herbin standard collection. You can find these inks for sale at Vanness Pens.
Swabs:
Left to right: Bleu Nuit, Bleu Myosotis, Bleu Pervenche and Bleu Azur.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry Time: 40-50 seconds
Water Resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: All have low shading.
On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size and some bleeding.
Comparison Swabs:
Bleu Nuit is closest to Robert Oster Evening Sapphire.
Bleu Myosotis is a little deeper than R&K Konigsblau.
Bleu Pervenche is close to R&K Blu Mare.
Bleu Azur is lighter than these other blue inks.
Longer Writing:
I used a Mabie Todd Swan on a Taroko Enigma notebook. All four had average flows.
Overall, all four of these are lovely and well behaved. I like the first three, but Blu Azur is a little too light for everyday use. They are absolutely worth a try.
