Journalize Starry Night

Journalize is a new-to-me brand. Let’s take a look at five inks in the Starry Night collection. You can find these inks for sale at Vanness Pens.

Swabs:

Left to right: Cosmic City, Deepspace Aurora, Starburst Glaze, Starwave Meadow and Dark Matter.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry Time: 40-50 seconds

Water Resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: All have low shading and shimmer. Deepspace Aurora and Dark Matter have green shimmer, Cosmic City has silver shimmer. Starburst Glaze has pink shimmer and Starwave Meadow has gold shimmer.

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size and some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Cosmic City is closest to De Atramentis Velvet Black Silver.

Deepspace Aurora is closest to Diamine Arabian Nights.

Starburst Glaze is closest to Colorverse Mystic Mountain.

Starwave Meadow is similar to Dominant Industry Les Nuages.

Dark Matter is a little cooler toned than these other purple shimmer inks.

Longer Writing:

All of the inks had average flows. I used a Taroko Enigma notebook.

Overall, these are interesting inks! For shimmer inks they flow well, I didn’t have any clogging issues. Give these ones a try if you love shimmer inks!
