Today’s Nagasawa Kobe ink is #27 Kounan Maroon, another great color for fall. I’m almost ready to move on from fall inks to Christmas inks, but not quite yet. Thanks to Pen Chalet for sending a sample over for review. (Right now Kobe inks are 25% off at Pen Chalet).

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: Low-there was some feathering in the larger nib sizes on Rhodia.

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there was some bleeding in the larger nib sizes.

Other properties: low shading, medium sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering in every nib size, and some bleeding in the flex and broad nibs.

Longer writing:

I used a medium Pelikan M805 Stresemann on Tomoe River 68gsm. The ink had a wet flow.

Overall, I like this color and it has a nice wet flow. There was a little bit more bleeding and feathering in the flex nib than I prefer, but other than that it’s pretty well behaved.
