It's new releases week! We are starting off the week with KWZ Meet Me In St. Louis, a St. Louis Pen Show exclusive ink for 2018. The St. Louis Pen show is coming up soon on June 29 through July 1. A sample of this ink was provided by the show organizers for review.

The color:

Meet Me In St. Louis is a medium blue-teal.

Swabs:

In large swabs there is a pretty black sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there was just a little bit of bleeding in the flex nib on Tomoe River paper.

Other properties: medium shadingmedium sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was some feathering and bleeding in every nib size, so it's not an ink I would recommend for cheap paper.

Comparison Swabs:

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Lamy Petrol, KWZ Meet Me in St. Louis, and Robert Oster Deep Sea. St. Louis has more blue than both Petrol and Deep Sea. Click here to see the KWZ inks together.

KWZ Baltic Memories, Sailor Jentle Yama-Dori, and Robert Oster Velvet Storm.  Click here to see the teal inks together. Baltic Memories is a blue, and not a teal, but it is the closest KWZ I had to compare to St. Louis.

Longer writing:

I used a broad Pelikan M805 Ocean Swirl on Tomoe River paper. The ink had a wet flow.

Overall, I like the wet flow, it has some medium shading and sheen, and the color is interesting. Look for this ink at the St. Louis pen show June 29-July 1.
