Octopus Write & Draw

Today’s inks are three Octopus Write and Draw Inks. These are pigmented inks so they require a bit more care than the average ink. You can find these inks for sale at Vanness Pens.

Swabs:

Left to right: Black Elephant, Grey Frog, and Brown Colibri.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry Time: 40-100 seconds

Water Resistance: High

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: Grey and Brown had medium shading

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Black Elephant is closest to Platinum Carbon Black.

Grey Frog is closest to Birmingham Sterling Silver.

Brown Colibri is less saturated than Sailor Ink Studio 573.

Longer Writing:

All had slightly wet flows.

Overall, I really enjoyed these inks. They are slightly wet but smooth and lovely to write with, I love the high water resistance but Black Elephant does have a rather long dry time. Out of the three I think Grey Frog is my favorite.
