Today we are testing out Pen Saijiki Fujifusa. For those of you who haven’t heard of Pen Saijiki, it’s a brand of inks made by Sailor in Japan. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens.

The color:

Fujifusa is a pretty, light purple, perfect for spring time. It reminds me of lilacs.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shadingno sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was just a little bit of feathering, and a tiny bit of bleeding in the flex nib.

Comparison Swabs:

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Diamine Amazing Amethyst, Pen Saijiki Fujifusa, and Sailor Jentle Fuji-musume. Click here to see the Pen Saijiki inks together. Fujifusa is a bit lighter and warmer than Fuji-musume.

Monteverde Amethyst, Robert Oster Summer Storm, and Robert Oster Viola. Click here to see the purple inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a broad Kaweco Al-sport Rose Gold on an ivory Hippo Noto Notebook. I love this pen by the way, it’s gorgeous and amazing. The ink had a slightly wet flow.

Overall, I thought the color would be too light, and it might be too light for some people. I think it did ok, it’s a great color for springtime. It’s well behaved, and dries pretty quickly.
