Ink Review #293: PenBBS 135 Beijing
/Today's reader request ink is PenBBS #135 Beijing. This ink is the 9th ink from season 11. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens.
Swabs:
In large swabs the ink turns black around the edges.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 40 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: Low, mainly in the flex nib on Tomoe River paper.
Other properties: very low shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On 20 pound copy paper the ink performed well, no issues that I noticed.
Comparison Swabs:
Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Diamine Ancient Copper, PenBBS 135 Beijing, and Monteverde Copper Noir. Click here to see the PenBBS inks together.
Sailor Jentle Doyou, Robert Oster Golden Brown, and Pilot Iroshizuku Tsukushi. Click here to see the brown inks together.
Overall, it's pretty well behaved, but it can be hard to get ahold of in the United States. I prefer Diamine Ancient Copper over this one. The color is a bit brighter and it's easier to find in the us. Give it a try, you might love it.
