Ink Review #997: PenBBS 365 Zi

penbbs-365-zi-2.jpg

Today’s ink is PenBBS 365 Zi from Season 24. Thanks to Vanness Pens for sending a sample over for review. (I just realized I mis-labeled the number in this photo-it’s 365 not 367 but I don’t have enough ink to re-do it so we’re just gonna run with it. Please pretend it says 365.)

The color:

365 Zi is a blue-toned grey. When wet it looks more blue but dries to grey.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink turns black when pooled but doesn’t actually sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was some feathering in all nib sizes but just a tiny bit of bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

365 Zi is similar to Lennon Tool Bar Saira. Click here to see the PenBBS inks together, and click here to see the grey inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a Platinum 3776 Nice with a broad architect nib on a Yoseka A5 notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, I like the color and it’s pretty well behaved.
