Today’s ink is Robert Oster Bass Straight from the 1980’s collection. I purchased my sample of ink from Pen Chalet.

The color:

Bass Straight is a medium dusky blue.

Swabs:

In large swabs the ink has some pretty shading and just a tiny bit of pink sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: high shading, a tiny bit of sheen, and no shimmer. I saw some shading in all nib sizes and only saw sheen in large swabs on Tomoe River paper.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was a lot of feathering and some bleeding as well.

Longer Writing:

I used a TWSBI Eco Transparent Blue with a medium nib on Tomoe River paper. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, it’s another great blue ink from Robert Oster. It’s a pretty color, has some nice shading and just the tiniest bit of sheen.
