Ink Review #502: Rohrer and Klingner SketchINK Lilly
/We’ve reached the last day of brown ink week-today’s first ink is Rohrer and Klingner SketchINK Lilly. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens. SketchINKs are water resistant and contain pigment, which makes them a little higher maintenance than the average ink.
Swabs:
Ink large swabs the ink looks almost black.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 15 seconds
Water resistance: High-the ink did not run at all.
Feathering: Low-the ink feathered in most nib sizes on Rhodia.
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering in every nib size, and some bleeding in the flex and broad nibs.
Comparison Swabs:
Lilly is a bit of a unique brown, I don’t have any other brown inks that quite match the color. Click here to see the Rohrer and Klingner inks together, and click here to see the brown inks together.
Longer writing:
Overall, I like that it’s very water resistant and dries quickly, but there are some flow issues because of the pigment. I wouldn’t suggest leaving this ink in a pen for too long.
