The color:

Murasaki Purple is a beautiful medium purple. This color actually reminds me of Barney. It’s Barney purple.

Swabs:

In large swabs there is some pretty shading and just a little bit of bright green sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 20 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shading, low sheen, and no shimmer. The sheen is only visible in a flex nib and large swabs on Tomoe River paper.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering in the larger nib sizes and a little bit of bleeding in the flex nib.

Comparison Swabs:

Murasaki Purple is closest to Monteverde Amethyst. Click here to see the Taccia inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a broad architect Platinum 3776 Nice and a fine Montegrappa Copper Mule on Tomoe River 68gsm. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, it’s well behaved at an affordable price, but I can’t help thinking of Barney every time I see it. It’s a lovely purple ink.
