For Those Who Celebrate Hanukkah!

I don’t celebrate Hanukkah myself, but I’ve had a lot of requests for more Hanukkah themed things when I post holiday content. So last week I posted a Christmas-themed ink palette and my favorite Christmas inks over on Patreon, so today we’re looking at Hanukkah ink palettes and tomorrow on Patreon I’ll share my favorite Hanukkah inks. Out of the five inks shown in this palette, Robert Oster Thunderstorm is my favorite by far.

I love all cookies (except oatmeal raisin, because they are gross). I love KWZ IG turquoise to match the color of the cookie icing.

Out of these five Colorverse Selectron is probably my favorite. I love how dark and consistent it is.

Kobe Taisanji Yellow is one of my favorite golden yellow inks. It flows well and is a wonderful holiday color.

Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!

December 2025 Ink Palettes

Christmas is coming (and Hanukkah for those who celebrate)!!! Christmas is my favorite holiday, and December is my favorite time of year. We’ve gotten just enough snow-flurries and flakes but not much has stuck on the ground for long. For a bright Christmas red I tend to reach for Octopus Red Koala, especially because it’s water-resistant.

I’ve been sewing like mad, making presents for pretty much everyone I know. I’ll take any excuse I can to be creative. I’ve been sewing a lot of purses and bags, dresses and pajamas, shirts and slippers. I’m having so much fun making each gift special for each person. I’m loving Penlux Mo Plum for a wintery holiday purple ink.

I’m usually a grump about letting other people decorate my tree. We’ve always had an upstairs tree that my kids are allowed to go wild on and a downstairs tree that I decorate with the metallic glass ornaments I’ve been collecting for years. This year I decided my 15-year-old was old enough to decorate my tree and she did such a good job. She really enjoyed it, but she might not like it so much when I make her do it next year too. Octopus Fluids Document Red is another fabulous bright water-resistant Christmas red.

New Years comes shortly after Christmas, and between both holidays I use a lot of shimmer inks. I especially love Robert Oster Heart of Gold. It’s the perfect gold color with gold shimmer.

I love doing these ink palette posts. I hope you have a great month and a fabulous holiday season!

November 2025 Ink Palettes

November has been a hard month for our family so far-we’ve had some sickness and some health issues, but November is a big month at our house. There’s Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, and both of my daughter’s birthdays. With Thanksgiving coming up, I’ve been thinking of what to make for dinner. I don’t love cranberry sauce on my turkey, but I do love other things made with cranberry. For a good deep red color I love Teranishi Guitar Classy Burgundy.

I love brown inks in the fall, especially in November. I really like the color of Monteverde Copper Noir.

Diamine Silver Fox is one of my favorite grey inks-it’s a fabulous color. It can be a bit light in smaller nib sizes, but I love it in a medium and broad nib.

Of these five inks, I think J Herbin Rouge Grenat is my favorite. It’s a great color for the autumn!

I love doing these ink palette posts. I hope you have a great month!

Grateful for Octobers Ink Palettes

It’s finally October! Fall is my favorite season, so I’ve been waiting for it to roll around. My sweaters, hot chocolate and fall candles have been out for a while, hoping to bring in the cooler weather. In the autumn I love to use more muted colors, lots of deep reds, purples, oranges and olive greens. Monteverde Blueberry Muffin is an ink I’m loving right now.

I swear I reach for Bungubox Sweet Potato Purple every fall. It flows really well and is a great color.

I live in Washington State, and apple season is just ending. The fields have been picked and there are apples for sale everywhere. Diamine Red Dragon is a lovely red, one I use often.

Robert Oster Graphite is a fabulous dark grey, but I also love KWZ Grey Lux right now.

I’m so grateful for Octobers! I hope you have a great month!

September Skies Ink Palette

We are partway into September! The temperature is supposed to drop down into the seventies tomorrow and I can’t wait for the cooler weather. I’m planning out some ink palettes for this month, and Robert Oster Deep Sea is such a good color, one that I use often.

I love this combo of purples so much, especially with the pop of coral. I use a lot of purples in the fall, and Diamine Mystique is a good one.

Yay for all the oranges in the fall! I love Jacques Herbin Orange Soleil-it’s nice and smooth while still being vibrant.

I love this combo so much! Robert Oster Thunderstorm has been a long time favorite of mine.

I love creating these ink palette posts. They make me so happy. I hope you enjoy them too!

May Butterflies Ink Palettes

It’s finally May so it’s time for another ink palettes post. This time I decided to focus on butterflies. When I was little I was obsessed with them, but let’s look at the inks! Sailor Jentle Tokiwa-matsu is a classic, you can’t go wrong with it.

I love the color of Sailor Ink Studio 541. It’s a fabulous turquoise with a little bit of green.

Waterman Tender Purple has been popular for a long time now, and for good reason. It’s a pretty color and well behaved.

I actually love all of these, but today my favorite out of the five is KWZ El Dorado. It’s so bright and happy.

Flowery February Ink Palettes

It’s February, and I’m two weeks late with this post unfortunately. This first palette is right up my alley. I love deep saturated colors in winter. Sailor Ink Studio 964 is a fabulous teal, and goes really well with the rest of these inks.

Monteverde Olivine is my favorite out of these five. I enjoy the deep olive color and smooth writing experience.

I love this photo so much. Paper Plume 011 was a limited edition, but I still ink it up occasionally.

Robert Oster Eucalyptus Leaf is a fabulous green, especially for the winter season.

What are you inking up this February? Let me know in the comments below!

Festive December Ink Palettes

It’s the first of December, so it’s time for some new ink palettes! It’s started snowing occasionally here in Eastern Washington, and I both love and hate the snow. I love seeing it and walking in it but I hate driving in it. I actually love all five of these inks, but Robert Oster Tranquility is always a stand-out for me.

Every December I make gingerbread houses with my kids, and it always involves a lot of frosting. Diamine Silver Fox is an ink I use often-I just love the color, but I enjoy it the most in wetter nibs since it can be pale in smaller nib sizes.

I am woefully behind on my Christmas presents list. I need to get cracking on it. I love Diamine Sherwood Green, it’s a wonderful green for the holidays.

My daughter decided that she wanted the Christmas tree put up on her birthday in November, so our tree has been up for a while. I love Diamine Espresso’s coloring. It’s a fabulous brown ink.

Spooky October Ink Palettes

It’s finally October! Fall is my favorite season, so bring on all the pumpkins and soup and halloween. I love carving pumpkins with my kids-they make the best yuck faces when they try to carve out the seeds. This palette has a few of my favorite inks-I love all Pilot Iroshizuku inks in general, but I especially love Fuyu-syogun and Yu-yake.

It’s soup season! Platinum Carbon Black is probably my favorite of these five inks, but you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Taccia Hokusai-benitsuchi is really underrated. It’s such a good ink for autumn.

Lamy Black is nice and dark, and yet not many people mention it for a dark black.

September Leaves Ink Palettes

It’s the first full week of September, so it’s time for some new ink palettes! It’s still the tail end of summer here in Washington, but I’m already pulling out the fall decorations and buying kids fall clothes. I decided to focus on leaves this month, mainly because I can’t wait for fall to actually hit us. I have a full bottle of Diamine Green Black but don’t reach for it very often. I need to use it more.

I love Taccia Sharaku-kurocha so much! It’s a gorgeous deep brown.

I think Lamy Black is really underrated. It’s a nice deep black.

Diamine Ancient Copper was one of the first ten inks I tried-everyone was raving about it at the time, and I still use it every fall.
