Ink Review #2543: Vinta Palaisipan

Vinta Palaisipan ‘Enigma’ 2023 is exclusive to Enigma Stationery. Thank you to Enigma Stationery for sending this ink in for review.

The color:

Palaisipan is a bright turquoise blue.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has lots of blue shimmer.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

*For my writing samples I use:

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and blue shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering in all nib sizes and some bleeding in the larger nib sizes.

Comparison Swabs:

Palaisipan is brighter than Robert Oster Free Spirit. Click here to see the blue inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Brooks Charleston with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink has a slightly dry flow.

Overall, I love the color of this ink. It’s bright and happy and perfect for spring and summer. I didn’t have trouble reading it in an extra fine nib-it’s dark enough to be easily read.

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: Medium

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low

Other properties: no shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering and bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Antique Turquoise is close to Kobe 26 Wadamisaki Blue. Click here to see the blue inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a Kaweco Al-sport Iguana Blue with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a slightly wet flow.

Overall, this is a lovely color, but it has way too much feathering for me. There are a lot of similar blues that are better behaved.
