Ink Review #133: Diamine Burgundy Royale

Diamine Burgundy Royale is part of the 2017 installment of the Diamine 150th Anniversary collection. So far I have liked the inks I have tried from this collection, so I wanted to check out the rest of them.

The color...

Burgundy Royale is a nice red with an almost pink tone to it.

The ink drops turn almost brown, but it's not actual sheen, the ink just looks darker when pooled.

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Low-medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: Low shading, no sheen

On non-fountain pen friendly paper, Moleskine, there is a little bit of feathering, some bleeding and high show through, so it's not an ink I would recommend for cheap paper.

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for RSS): Diamine Cult Pens Deep Dark Red, Diamine Burgundy Royale, and Diamine Syrah. Click here to see the Diamine inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a Pilot Vanishing Point, broad nib on Tomoe River paper.

Overall, Burgundy Royale is a nice ink, and it's a lovely color, but it doesn't stand out enough for me to need a whole bottle of the ink.
