The color:

Love is a dark red with an orange undertone.

Swabs:

In large swabs you can see the small pop of brown sheen but some of the orange undertone comes through as well.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shading, low sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was a bit of bleeding and feathering in the flex nib as well as some feathering in the other nib sizes.

Comparison Swabs:

Love Red is similar to Diamine Tulip. Click here to see the Monteverde Inks together, and click here to see the red inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Sailor Pro Gear Slim Supernova with a broad nib on Tomoe River paper. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, I was surprised by the orange undertone, which comes out stronger on cream paper. I prefer this ink on white paper. For a love red, I expected more of a true red with less orange.
