Ink Review #2096: Vinta Damili

Let’s take a look at Vinta Terracotta Damili from Series 3. You can find this ink for sale at Vanness Pens.

The color:

Damili is aa bright red-orange.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has some shading.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

*For my writing samples I use:

Dry time: 60 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had just a little bit of feathering and a few dots of bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Damili is a little lighter than Monteverde Fireopal. Click here to see the orange inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Lamy Safari Terracotta with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this ink was in the middle for me-interesting, but not a must-have. I could take it or leave it. It might be good for the fall and winter seasons.

The color:

Tubbatha is a deep blue with lots of sheen.

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has lots of sheen.

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low

Other properties: no shading, monster pink sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had just a little bit of feathering and a few dots of bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Tubbatha is closest to Diamine Maureen. Click here to see the blue inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Pelikan M805 Vibrant Blue with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a dry flow.

Overall, just like Dugong Bughaw, this is just another super sheeny blue-there are plenty of them out there now, so there’s nothing unique about this ink.

Nakar is a deep silver with silver shimmer.

I used a Sailor Pro Gear Lighthouse with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is a lovely silver ink. I love the shading and the color.

Longer Writing:

I used a TWSBI Eco Transparent Blue with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average but sticky flow.

Overall, this is just another super sheeny blue. There’s plenty of these inks out there already, so there’s nothing about this ink that’s unique to me.

Spring Fields is a bright chartreuse green.

I used a Lamy Al-star Charged Green with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a dry flow.

Overall, this ink is well behaved, but a bit dry. The color is rather bright for me, but it’s nice that there aren’t a lot of shimmer inks out there this color.

Today let’s take a look at three Kobe green inks from the standard collection. You can find these inks for sale at Vanness Pens.

Swabs:

Left to right: 76 Futatabiisan Park Tree, 34 Sorakuen Tea Green and 43 School Urban Fresh Green.

Writing samples:

Dry Time: 40 seconds

Water Resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: All three had medium shading.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was lots of feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

76 Futatabiisan Park Tree is a bit darker than Bungubox Kaoru.

34 Sorakuen Tea Green is a bit lighter than Robert Oster Moss.

43 School Urban Fresh Green is just a touch more yellow than Octopus Fluids Lindgrun.

All three inks had an average flow.

Overall, 76 Futatabiisan Park Tree is my favorite simply because I like the color most out of the three, but all three are lovely and well behaved.

Overall, this is a lovely ink. It’s a nice color and well-behaved. It even did well on cheap copy paper.

I used an Opus 88 Koloro with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is a lovely ink, but it’s not especially unique in any way. There are a lot of similar greens out there with more shading and sheen.

Ink Review: Colorverse Albert & V2 Rocket

Dry Time: 15-20 seconds

Water Resistance: Medium

Feathering: Low

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: Albert had medium shading and V2 Rocket had low shading.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was lots of feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Albert is more yellow than Blackstone Lemur Lime.

V2 Rocket is closest to Diplomat Orange.

Both inks had an average flow.

Overall, Albert is a little too bright and yellow for me. I prefer V2 Rocket.

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry Time: 40-50 seconds

Water Resistance: Low-Medium

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: All three had low shading. Roaring Patina had medium black sheen. Roaring Patina and Sunlit Jade had gold shimmer while Moonlit Jade had silver shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was lots of feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Roaring Patina Black is a little bit lighter than Diamine Solstice.

Sunlit Jade and Moonlit Jade are a little bit brighter than De Atramentis Heliogen Green Gold.

All three inks had an average flow.

Overall, Moonlit Jade is my favorite out of the three simply because I prefer silver shimmer over gold, but all three are lovely and well behaved.
