Ink Review #168: Diamine Electric Pink

DElectricPink-2.jpg

I'm still on the shimmer ink train-I'm hoping to make it through all of the Diamine Shimmertastics eventually. Today I'm testing out Diamine Electric Pink, from the 2017 Shimmertastic collection. So far I've been really impressed with the 2017 ones, so I'm hoping this one is a winner as well. I purchased my sample of ink from Vanness Pens

The color:

Electric Pink is a bright pink. It's a beautiful color, it does remind me a bit of neon pink so the name is fitting.

There is plenty of beautiful silver shimmer. If you look really closely there's a tiny bit of goldish-brown sheen.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there's just a little bit in the flex nib.

Other properties: Medium shading, a tiny bit of brownish-gold sheen, and silver shimmer. The sheen really only shows up in large swabs on Tomoe River paper.

On 20 pound copy paper the ink did really well, just a tiny bit of bleeding in the flex nib.

Longer writing:

I used a Platinum 3776 Nice Lilas with a medium nib on Tomoe River paper. I had so many issues that I gave up on the page early. I was having trouble with flow-it felt really dry to me.

Take two and three...

Since the first longer writing sample wasn't great, I inked up a Franklin Christoph 65 Antique Glass with a medium nib and wrote another paragraph. I still had problems, so I inked up a Pelikan m805 Ocean Swirl with a broad nib and gave it another go. I guess the third time is the winner.

Overall, I love the color-it's a beautiful summery pink. It looks great with the silver shimmer. I do recommend using this ink in a large nib size, preferably in a large wet nib. It performed the best for me in a Pelikan broad nib. If you like pink and shimmer, give it a shot-you may end up loving it.
