Ink Review #350: Diamine Moon Dust
/It's the last day of grey week, so let's finish up with Diamine Moon Dust, part of the 2016 Shimmertastic collection. I purchased my sample from Vanness Pens.
The color:
Moon Dust is a light, neutral grey.
Swabs:
In large swabs there is plenty of silver shimmer.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 20 seconds.
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and silver shimmer.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was some feathering in most nib sizes but no bleeding.
Comparison Swabs:
Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): J. Herbin 1670 Stormy Grey, Diamine Moon Dust, and Nemosine Coalsack Nebula. Click here to see the Diamine inks together.
Montblanc Oyster Grey, Diamine Silver Fox, and Diamine Grey. Click here to see the grey inks together.
Longer writing:
I used a broad Pelikan M600 Turquoise on Tomoe River paper. The ink had an average flow.
Overall, this is a great silver shimmer ink. It has lots of shimmer, and a little bit of shading as well. Right now it's my favorite silver shimmer.
