This week we are testing out the Diamine Flowers Set. Usually this set is only available in 10-bottle sets, but I found that Cult Pens sells the bottles individually. Today's flower ink is Diamine Tulip.

The color:

Tulip is a bright, true red.

Swabs:

In large swabs there wasn't much shading, the color is pretty consistent.

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shadingno sheen, and no shimmer

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was feathering and just a little bit of bleeding, mainly in the flex nib.

Comparison Swabs:

Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Robert Oster Fire Engine Red, Diamine Tulip, and Robert Oster Rubine. Click here to see the Diamine inks together.

Kaweco Ruby Red, Robert Oster Royal Red, and Montblanc Legend of Zodiacs. I think Royal Red is probably the closest out of these inks. Click here to see the red inks together.

Longer writing:

I used a medium Pilot Vanishing Point Crimson Sunrise on Tomoe River paper. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, it's a pretty true red and pretty well behaved too, which is lovely. For $3.86 for 30ml, you really can't go wrong.
