Shigure Inks recently started carrying Lennon Tool Bar inks from Taiwan. Yesterday we tested the 2019 Autumn collection, so now we are taking a look at the Atmospheric collection which includes: Firmament, Cloudy Day and Twilight. Thanks to Shigure Inks for sending the inks over for review!

Swabs:

Left to right: Firmament, Cloudy Day and Twilight. Firmament is an unsaturated murky green. Cloudy Day is an unsaturated dark blue. Twilight is somewhere between blue, purple and grey. On the Col-o-ring card it looks more purple.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Water resistance: High

Feathering: Low-there was some feathering in the flex nib on Leuchtturm and Rhodia.

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low-there was some bleeding on Leuchtturm in the flex nib.

Other properties: low shadingno sheen, and no shimmer.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was lots of feathering in every nib size as well as a lot of bleeding, so I would not recommend these inks for cheap paper.

Comparison Swabs:

Firmament is similar to but less saturated than Sailor Ink Studio 462. Cloudy Day is similar to Birmingham Aluminum. Twilight is bluer than Colorverse Anti-Matter. Click here to see the Lennon Tool Bar inks together.

I used a Lochby Lined Refill A5 notebook (Tomoe River 68gsm). All of the inks had a wetter than average flow, almost a bit thin and watery.

Overall, I enjoyed these inks. The very wet flow makes the small extra fine and fine nibs seem broader than they are. I love how well the colors coordinate together and all behave similarly.
