Ink Review #2843: Colorverse Walk the Dog

We are taking a look at Colorverse inks this week, today’s is Colorverse Walk the Dog from the Joy in the Ordinary collection. You can find this ink for sale at some retailers including Vanness Pens.

The color:

Walk the Dog is an unsaturated army green.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has some shading but no sheen.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm, as well as on cheap copy paper.

*For my writing samples I use:

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering and bleeding in all nib sizes.

Comparison Swabs:

Walk the Dog looks more pea green than army green when compared to other green inks. It’s less brown than Wearingeul Peter Pan. Click here to see the green inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Lamy Safari Savannah with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a dry flow.

Overall, I like this color in the swab, but it’s too light in writing for me, and the flow is too dry.

Overall, this ink is okay, but not great. It dries in 40 seconds on Rhodia, but I had issues with it drying on Tomoe River paper. The ink drops still weren’t dry after four days. Since I mostly use Tomoe River paper, this is not a great ink for me.

I used a Kaweco Sport Fontoplumo Brown with a fine nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink has an average flow.

Overall, I found this to be a pretty average brown. It has no shading, sheen or shimmer (in my testing at least), so it doesn’t have anything that really makes it stick out from the crowd, but it is well behaved and a nice color.

Overall, I love the idea of the color, but it’s a bit too light in writing for me to easily read it. It’s also too dry for me to write for long sessions comfortably.

Overall, I found this ink to be too pale in writing to be easily read. It didn’t have the feathering issues that a lot of other fragranced inks have. It’s very similar to De Atramentis Gold Yellow-you probably don’t need both.
