Ink Review #1927: Laban Hera Dark Green

Laban Hera Dark Green is from Laban’s Greek Mythology collection. Thanks to Goldspot for sending this ink over for review!

The color:

Hera is a dark green with a blue undertone.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink looks more dark teal than dark green.

*For my writing samples I use:

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had some feathering but no bleeding.

Longer writing:

I used an Esterbrook Estie Montana Sapphire with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, the color is a bit unusual, which is lovely. I love finding unique ink colors.

Aphrodite is a dusky rose pink.

Overall, this is a lovely pink ink. It’s a nice rosy color and well behaved.

Athena is a deep grey, almost black.

Overall, this is a good basic dark grey, no shading or sheen so it would be a great ink for the office.

Longer writing:

I used a Lamy Safari Petrol with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a wet flow.

Overall, this ink dries quickly and is water resistant, but it also comes with lots of issues: high feathering and bleeding, even on Tomoe River paper and the ink spreads so a medium nib feels more like a broad or double broad. I wouldn’t recommend this ink to anyone.

Electron is a medium red orange.

I used a Taroko Enigma notebook. The both inks had a wet flow.

Overall, I enjoyed both of these. They’re well behaved and have a nice wet flow.

Overall, this is a nice black ink. I enjoyed the wet flow and the little bit of sheen.
