Ink Review #2103: Dominant Industry Citrus Yellow

Today’s ink is Dominant Industry Citrus Yellow. Thanks to Yoseka for sending this ink over for review!

The color:

Citrus Yellow is a bright sunshine yellow.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has some shading.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

*For my writing samples I use:

Dry time: 40 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: low shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had just a little bit of feathering and a few dots of bleeding.

Longer Writing:

I used a Lamy Safari Mango with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is a lovely ink-bright and well behaved.

PenBBS Season 27 Part 1

Let’s look at five inks from PenBBS Season 27. I purchased my samples from Vanness Pens, but they are no longer carrying the brand so I’m unsure where you can purchase them.

Swabs:

Left to right: Spring Festival, Sakura Flower, Rose Powder, Magnolia and Azalea.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry Time: 20-40 seconds

Water Resistance: Low-High

Feathering: Spring Festival had high feathering, but the rest had none.

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: All but Spring Festival had low shading.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was lots of feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Spring Festival is similar to Pilot Iroshizuku Daikokuten.

Sakura Flower is more olivey than Kobe Sorakuten Tea.

Rose Powder is close to Pilot Iroshizuku Kosumosu.

Magnolia is lighter than Vinta Fortaleza.

Azalea is darker than Birmingham Chrysanthemum.

Three inks had an average flow, Spring Festival had a wet flow and Magnolia had an average flow.

Overall, Azalea is my favorite out of the five simply because I like the color the best.

Ink Review #2097: Vinta Night Sky Tala

The color:

Tala is a dark blue with rose gold shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had just a little bit of feathering and a few dots of bleeding.

Longer Writing:

I used a Sailor Pro Gear Lighthouse with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is a lovely shimmer ink, but the shimmer does not stay put. When you move the page the shimmer flakes off easily.

Ink Review #2096: Vinta Damili

Let’s take a look at Vinta Terracotta Damili from Series 3. You can find this ink for sale at Vanness Pens.

The color:

Damili is aa bright red-orange.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has some shading.

Water resistance: Low

Show through: Medium

Other properties: medium shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had just a little bit of feathering and a few dots of bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Damili is a little lighter than Monteverde Fireopal. Click here to see the orange inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a Lamy Safari Terracotta with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this ink was in the middle for me-interesting, but not a must-have. I could take it or leave it. It might be good for the fall and winter seasons.

I used a Pelikan M805 Vibrant Blue with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a dry flow.

Overall, just like Dugong Bughaw, this is just another super sheeny blue-there are plenty of them out there now, so there’s nothing unique about this ink.

Nakar is a deep silver with silver shimmer.

Longer Writing:

I used a TWSBI Eco Transparent Blue with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average but sticky flow.

Overall, this is just another super sheeny blue. There’s plenty of these inks out there already, so there’s nothing about this ink that’s unique to me.

I used a Lamy Al-star Charged Green with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a dry flow.

Overall, this ink is well behaved, but a bit dry. The color is rather bright for me, but it’s nice that there aren’t a lot of shimmer inks out there this color.

Today let’s take a look at three Kobe green inks from the standard collection. You can find these inks for sale at Vanness Pens.

Swabs:

Left to right: 76 Futatabiisan Park Tree, 34 Sorakuen Tea Green and 43 School Urban Fresh Green.

Feathering: None

Other properties: All three had medium shading.

76 Futatabiisan Park Tree is a bit darker than Bungubox Kaoru.

34 Sorakuen Tea Green is a bit lighter than Robert Oster Moss.

43 School Urban Fresh Green is just a touch more yellow than Octopus Fluids Lindgrun.

All three inks had an average flow.

Overall, 76 Futatabiisan Park Tree is my favorite simply because I like the color most out of the three, but all three are lovely and well behaved.

Overall, this is a lovely ink. It’s a nice color and well-behaved. It even did well on cheap copy paper.
