Swabs:

Left to right: Velvet Ballet, The Land of Shangri-la, Workshop Wishes and Twinkling Tea Party.

Writing samples:

Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.

Dry Time: 40-70 seconds

Water Resistance: Low-Medium

Feathering: Low

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: Low

Other properties: Velvet Ballet has low shading and silver shimmer. Workshop Wishes has medium shading and rose gold shimmer. Land of Shangri-la has low shading, low green sheen and gold shimmer. Twinkling Tea Party has medium shading and rose gold shimmer.

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Velvet Ballet is less saturated than PenBBS Danjo.

Workshop Wishes is much lighter than these other brown inks.

Land of Shangri-la is closest to Diamine Inkvent Winter Spice.

Twinkling Tea Party is darker than De Atramentis Heliogen Green Copper and lighter than Diamine Alpine.

All four had dry flows.

Overall, I think Velvet Ballet and Workshop Wishes are my favorites out of the four. I do wish all of them were a bit wetter.

Ink Review #2131: Vinta Bisperas

Let’s take a look at Vinta Bisperas 1669-Vesper Blue, a Holiday 2022 ink. You can find this ink for sale at Lemur Ink.

The color:

Bisperas is a bright blue with sheen and shimmer.

*For my swab cards I use a Col-o-ring by Skylab Letterpress, a medium Pilot Ishime and a Mabie Todd Swan.

Swabs:

In large swabs on Tomoe River paper the ink has plenty of shimmer.

*For my writing samples I use:

Dry time: 30 seconds

Water resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: medium shading, high pink sheen, and gold shimmer.

On 20 lb copy paper the ink had just a little bit of feathering and some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Bisperas is a touch more green than Diamine Arctic Blue. Click here to see the blue inks together.

Longer Writing:

I used a TWSBI Eco Cyan with a medium nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had a slightly dry flow.

Overall, I enjoyed this ink. I do wish the flow was a bit wetter, but other than that it’s well behaved.

Sailor Yurameku Series 2 Inks

Let’s take a look at the Sailor Yurameku Series 2 inks. You can find these inks for sale at Goulet Pens.

Swabs:

Left to right: Zare Gakoro, Hana Gakoro, Kokoro Guma, Date Gakoro and Suki Gakoro.

Dry Time: 30-40 seconds

Water Resistance: Medium

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: All five had medium shading and medium sheen.

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Hana Gakoro and Zare Gakoro aren’t particularly close to any of these other blue blacks.

Kokoro Guma is closest to Taccia Sharaku-kurocha out of these brown inks.

Date Gakoro isn’t similar to any of these other blues-it’s more violet than they are.

Suki Gakoro is more brown than these other green inks.

All five inks had average flows.

Overall, these inks are super interesting-they are one color when wet and dry to a different color. Out of the five I think Zare Garoko is my favorite. All are well behaved with some nice shading and sheen.

Dry Time: 20-80 seconds

Water Resistance: Low

Feathering: None

Show through: Medium

Bleeding: None

Other properties: All three had medium shading. Grand Central Skies had silver shimmer.

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Lights on Broadway is a little pinker than PenBBS First Love.

Central Park is a little less yellow than Robert Oster Australis Tea, but more yellow than Tono & Lims Kagawa.

Grand Central Skies is lighter than Tono & Lims Phosphophyllite.

All three had dry flows.

Overall, all are lovely colors but are too dry for me. Grand Central Skies is most readable in a broad nib, in smaller nibs it is a bit too light for me to easily read.

Ink Review #2122: Robert Oster Ghost

Today’s ink is Robert Oster Ghost, an EndlessPens exclusive designed by @micahfinds. Thanks to EndlessPens for sending this ink over for review!

The color:

Ghost is a deep pewter grey with silver shimmer.

I used a Pelikan M805 Vibrant Blue with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is a lovely ink! I love the color, and it’s well behaved. I’m glad I have a full bottle because I think I will use it often-grey is one of my favorite colors.

Robert Oster Ten Dollar Inks

Recently Robert Oster created a set of inks called the Aussie Ten Dollar Bill Series. You can find these inks for sale at Vanness Pens.

Other properties: All four had low shading.

On Walmart Pen + Gear copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Ten Dollar Gold is closest to Taccia Sharaku-natane.

Ten Dollar Green is a little less yellow than 3 Oysters DIY Green.

Ten Dollar Teal is a bit brighter than Laban Poseidon Green.

Ten Dollar Blue is pretty close to Sailor Ink Studio 441.

All four had average flows.

Overall, I enjoyed all four of them. To me the Gold is the most unique out of the four, but all four are well behaved.

The color:

NYC is a medium blue.

I used a Conklin Endura Deco Crest with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is another good blue Robert Oster ink. I swear he has every shade of blue now.

Sailor Manyo Dual Shaders

Today let’s take a look at the four Sailor Manyo Dual Shaders. I purchased my ink from Goulet Pens.

Left to right: Ayame, Hinoki, Koke and Fuji.

Other properties: All four had high shading.

On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was some feathering in every nib size as well as some bleeding.

Comparison Swabs:

Ayame is closest to Vinta Sirena.

Hinoki is close to Maruzen Athena Ginkan and Sailor Ink Studio 224.

Koke is darker than Sailor Manyo Haha.

Fuji is lighter than Sailor Manyo Nekoyanagi.

All four had dry flows.

Overall, I love all four of them. The shading is fabulous but they are very dry, so I preferred using them in wetter pens. I actually purchased full bottles of these inks because I like them so much. Out of the four Koke is the most readable in everyday writing.

2100 Inks!

We have surpassed 2100 ink reviews so it’s time for another favorites post! We are now into spring (well, most of us…sorry Utah!) so today let’s focus on my favorite spring colors.

Reds:

Whisper Red is probably my favorite spring red. It’s the one I feel is a true pastel red.

Pinks:

Out of these four Kosumosu is probably my favorite, but I love all four.

Oranges:

Peach is my favorite out of the three, but you can’t go wrong with any of them.

Yellows:

I love Honey Bee every time I use it. It’s a lovely yellow but still readable.

Greens:

I love almost all greens in the spring but Bungubox Kaoru is a fave.

Teals:

I reach for Soft Mint over and over in the spring.

Blues:

Milky Ocean is my favorite spring blue, simply because of the spectacular shading.

Purples:

I love all four of these purples.

Ebony Green is a deep emerald green.

I used a Pilot Ishime Green with a broad nib on a Taroko Enigma notebook. The ink had an average flow.

Overall, this is a lovely color but there’s a bit more feathering and bleeding than I like to see. I could take or leave this one.
