Ink Review #458: J Herbin Corail des Tropiques
/I caught pink eye this week, and fell behind my posting schedule, so today I’m playing catch up. Today’s seconds ink is J Herbin Corail des Tropiques. I love coral inks, they aren’t very common, but the color is beautiful. This ink was released this year, and is available in 10ml and 30ml bottles. Thanks to Pen Chalet for sending a bottle over for review.
Swabs:
In large swabs the ink shows a little bit of the grey undertone.
Writing samples:
Let's take a look at how the ink behaves on fountain pen friendly papers: Rhodia, Tomoe River, and Leuchtturm.
Dry time: 20 seconds
Water resistance: Low
Feathering: None
Show through: Medium
Bleeding: None
Other properties: no shading, no sheen, and no shimmer.
On Staples 24 lb copy paper there was just a little bit of feathering, and a bit of bleeding in the flex nib.
Comparison Swabs:
Ink swabs for comparison, left to right (top to bottom for mobile RSS): Pen Saijiki Syurei, J Herbin Corail des Tropiques, and J Herbin Rouille d’Ancre. Syurei is a bit more orange, and Corail is a bit more pink (I love both colors). Click here to see the J Hebin inks together, and click here to see the pink inks together.
Longer writing:
Overall, I really enjoyed this ink. Its well behaved, pretty and it’s not a very common color. I’m adding a 30ml bottle to my wish list!
